The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has formally put into operation the parallel taxiway 'P' along with auxiliary taxiways 'S' and 'N' at the Tribhuvan International Airport from Wednesday.
According to a press release issued by the authority, after the new taxiway comes into operation, it is expected that the ground movement of aircraft will be more effective, operational safety will be enhanced, runway occupancy time will be reduced and the overall operational capacity of the airport will increase.
The newly constructed taxiway system was inaugurated by Mukunda Niraula, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and Mukesh Dangol, Director General of the Authority.
This project has been implemented through the Air Transport Capacity Enhancement Project under the Authority. Similarly, Mukesh Dangol, appointed as the Director General of the Authority as per the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Government of Nepal on Jestha 11, assumed office on Wednesday.
