The Supreme Court has ordered the release of Nepal Investment Mega Bank Limited's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jyoti Prakash Pandey.
A bench of Justices Sharanga Subedi and Shantisingh Thapa on Friday ordered the release of CEO Pandey while hearing a petition for habeas corpus. The order states that if he has to leave the country, he will have to seek permission from the court in the presence of a senior advocate.
The order also states that there is no situation that requires Pandey to be kept in custody and investigated.
The family had filed a habeas corpus petition in the Supreme Court, claiming that Pandey was being held illegally. Mrs. Niru Dahal filed the habeas corpus petition on behalf of Pandey on Wednesday.
Pandey was arrested at around 8 pm on Tuesday night during a vehicle check in the bus park area of Kamalamai Municipality-6 in Sindhuli.
