If the transmission line is not operational within the current fiscal year, there is a risk that about 800 megawatts of electricity generated during the rainy season will not be able to flow and will be wasted.

The construction work of the Hetauda-Dhalkebar section under the Hetauda-Dhalkebar-Duhavi 400 kV transmission line has resumed at a rapid pace. The project, which had been stalled for a long time due to compensation and land disputes, has been reactivated after the initiative of Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, the ministry has stated.
The construction of the transmission line tower has progressed as the landowners have accepted the compensation after Minister Shrestha's continuous coordination with local people's representatives and stakeholders. The project was affected for years when the construction of the tower in the Hatiya area of Hetauda under the transmission line, which began construction in 2012, was stopped.
Of the total 288-kilometer-long project, the eastern section, 154-kilometer-long Dhalkebar-Inruwa section, has already been operational three years ago. However, the 134-kilometer-long Hetauda-Dhalkebar section, which was delayed due to compensation disputes.
The Authority has stated that out of the 14 towers to be constructed in the Hetauda area, the construction of 3 has been completed and the erection of 2 is ongoing. It has also stated that the foundation of all the towers has been completed and the work on the remaining structures has reached the final stage.
Acting Executive Director of the Authority, Dirghayu Kumar Shrestha, informed that the process of compensation and compensation distribution is being carried out in parallel with the construction of the towers. He expressed his commitment to provide appropriate compensation to the affected people as per the law and said that compensation will be distributed to all those identified at once once the stringing work begins.
According to Shrestha, if the transmission line is not operational within the current fiscal year, there is a risk that about 800 megawatts of electricity generated during the rainy season will not be able to flow and will be wasted. He said that this could cause economic losses worth billions of rupees to the nation.
The Authority aims to complete the construction of the remaining two towers as soon as the remaining approvals for felling trees in the forest area and land use are received. Once the project is completed, it is expected to further strengthen the country's internal electricity supply, increase the reliability of the national grid, and make a significant contribution to expanding electricity trade with neighboring countries.
