Punya Prasad Sitaula has won the post of President of the Seventh National General Convention of the National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs.
Sitaula won by getting 1,030 votes in the voting held today to select a new leadership under the general convention that began in Pokhara on April 10. His candidate Harisharan KC received 464 votes.
Similarly, Sanukaji Prajapati, N Kumar Sai and Kedar Poudel have won the posts of Senior Vice President. Chandra Ojha, Dambarraj Pant, Atmaram Thapa, Kanchharam Thing, Kanchhaman Bal, Jit Bahadur Bharti and Ram Prasad Subedi have won the posts of Vice President. Thirteen people competed for the seven posts of Vice President.
Yadav Lal Shrestha won the post of Vice President of the Federation for Freight Transport and Deknath Gautam won the post of General Secretary. Similarly, Devin Shrestha, Bhanubhakta Baral and Purushottam Sinkhara won the posts of Deputy General Secretary. Umesh KC, Chet Prasad Gautam and Tanka Prasad Basyal have been elected as secretaries. Rajendra Acharya won as treasurer with 716 votes. Shobhakhar Poudel won as co-treasurer, informed the coordinator of the election committee, Krishna Prasad Gyawali. A total of 78-member working committee has been elected from the general convention.
Newly elected chairman Sitaula pledged to work together with the government to improve Nepal's public transport. 'There are many problems in the transport sector, a new government has been formed. We will work together with the government to improve this sector,' he said.
Two thousand representatives and observers from committees, companies, private limited companies and cooperatives operating public transport from across the country participated in the general convention.
