The country's foreign exchange reserves have reached Rs 3,494.73 billion. This is also the highest ever. This is 30.5 percent more than the previous month. In mid-Ashar, 2082, foreign exchange reserves were Rs 2,677.68 billion.

Such reserves in US dollars increased by 20.8 percent to Rs 23.55 billion in mid-Chait 2082 from Rs 19.50 billion in mid-Ashar.

Out of the total foreign exchange reserves, the reserves held by Nepal Rastra Bank increased by 27.7 percent to Rs 3,82.41 billion in mid-Chait 2082. The share of Indian currency in the total foreign exchange reserves as of mid-Chait 2082 is 20.4 percent.

Based on imports up to 9 months of the current fiscal year 2082/83, the foreign exchange reserves of the banking sector appear to be sufficient to cover 21.8 months of imports of goods and 18.4 months of imports of goods and services.
