The government has given two public holidays on Saturdays and Sundays in a week, which has had a positive impact on tourism in the tourist capital Pokhara.
The two-day holiday has increased the number of tourists in Pokhara hotels by 10 percent compared to the previous year, said Laxman Subedi, President of the Hotel Association Pokhara. He informed that the number of domestic tourists has increased in Pokhara, especially during this time, and 10 percent more tourists are coming than the capacity. 'Usually, due to the two-day holiday, domestic tourists spend two days in Pokhara and return,' he said, 'This has contributed significantly to the overall tourism of Pokhara.'
Tourists who come to Pokhara visit the lakes of Lekhnath area including Fewa Lake in Pokhara, go boating, and enjoy adventure tourism such as paragliding, bungee jumping, ziplining, etc.
Religious tourist pilgrimage sites in Pokhara include Vindhyabasini, Talbarahi, Pumdikot, Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, World Peace Stupa, etc., and the International Mountain Museum, Mahendra Cave, Chamere Cave, Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, etc.
In Pokhara's tourism, Falgun, Chait and Baisakh, and Asoj, Kartik and Mangsir are considered the main tourist seasons. Chairman Subedi informed that currently about 60 percent of the capacity of the hotels here is being filled.
Out of the 8 trillion rupees invested in Pokhara's overall tourism, 6 trillion rupees are invested in hotels here, he informed. According to him, Pokhara, which has about 1,200 hotels, can accommodate up to 40,000 tourists a day.
