The Department of Agriculture has urged farmers not to leave wheat in the fields due to adverse weather conditions.

The department has urged farmers to take their wheat produce home and store it to reduce the risk of damage to the wheat they have harvested in the fields as the weather has changed, causing fog, mist and rain in various parts of the country.

Director General of the department, Prakash Kumar Sanjel, also suggested using 4-5 inches of dried leaves of plants such as neem, bakai and titepati in the upper part of the barn to protect it from insects.

The Agricultural Information Center under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has also been providing farmers with technical advice on agricultural production, production increase, crop protection, damage reduction and marketing information.

The center has asked not to burn agricultural residues left in the fields after harvesting wheat and other crops. The Agriculture Information Center has stated that about 2.2 million metric tons of wheat will be produced this year.

With the increase in summer, the number of mosquitoes, flies, ticks, etc. will also increase and there is a risk of infection of lumpy skin disease in cows and buffaloes, informed the center's officer Sanjeev Pandit. The center has also urged livestock farmers to make it mandatory to vaccinate cows and buffaloes against lumpy skin disease.
