Egg prices have increased due to a decrease in egg production and increased demand. The Layers Poultry Farmers Association has increased the price of eggs, effective from today, based on farm prices.
According to the increased price, the farm price of a crate (30) of large eggs has reached 465. Earlier, the price of large eggs, which was sold at 450 per crate, has increased by 15. Similarly, the farm price of medium eggs has been set at 415. Earlier, these eggs were sold at 400 rupees.
The price of eggs was the highest ever in last Mangsir. At that time, large eggs were sold at 565 per crate on the farm. The rate of medium eggs was 550 rupees.
According to the association's president, Binod Pokharel, production has decreased due to diseases seen in chickens and the increasing heat. The demand for eggs has increased due to increased tourist activity and activities since New Year's Eve. The number of eggs coming from outside has decreased due to the tightening of border areas. The association has been fixing the support price of eggs according to the market situation. Chairman Pokharel said that now the price of eggs is expected to increase and reach the cost price.
