Nepal Oil Corporation has urged consumers to be aware of fuel consumption. The decision to grant holidays from Monday to Saturday and Sunday to consumers should be supported by the decision of the Council of Ministers held on Sunday, said Corporation spokesperson Manoj Thakur.

'We did not take out our vehicles and go for a walk just because we got a holiday . We have to reduce fuel consumption at any cost. The people also need to contribute to this,' said Spokesperson Thakur, 'Currently, the Corporation is incurring a loss of Rs 120 per liter. The government's decision to grant holidays to reduce fuel consumption is positive. Consumers should also be aware of consumption and not consume fuel for activities other than essential activities.'

As the supply crisis of petroleum products is increasing day by day, today's Council of Ministers meeting has decided to grant two days off to government offices and all educational institutions, effective from Monday. Government spokesperson and Minister for Education, Science and Technology Sasmit Pokharel informed about the government's decision to make legal reforms to convert diesel and petrol-using vehicles to electric vehicles to reduce fuel consumption.

According to the corporation's data, 2.5 million liters of petrol and 5 million liters of diesel are being consumed every day across the country. Corporation spokesperson Thakur says that we will have to wait for the next week to determine how much this decision of the government will contribute to reducing the fuel crisis.

'It will take some time to understand the market demand, but its impact is definitely visible,' he said, 'Many schools are private. They are consuming a large amount of fuel from their vehicles. Also, since the SEE exam is ongoing, the use of vehicles is still high. The exact consumption data will come after the exam is over.'
