The National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs has demanded an adjustment in vehicle fares, citing the increase in the price of petroleum products.
The Federation's General Secretary Deknath Gautam issued a statement today saying that serious attention has been drawn to the price hike made by Nepal Oil Corporation last night in petroleum products and that this will directly impact the transport business.
The Federation has demanded the Nepal government to control internal leakage and consumption of petroleum products within Nepal Oil Corporation and adopt scientific methods to ensure smooth supply of petroleum products.
Since public transport vehicles are operated using diesel/petrol fuel, the Federation has stated that the fluctuation in the price of petroleum products has directly affected the operation of public vehicles.
The rule had increased diesel by 10 and petrol by 15 from last night. The Department of Transport Management has been adjusting prices of petroleum products on federal routes through an automatic system as per the law, and has requested that the system be implemented even now. The federation has also demanded that the government adjust the fares on federal routes from the Department of Transport Management and the fares under the provinces from all seven provincial ministries as soon as possible.
