From now on, flights will be operated only three times a week at Resunga Airport. Nepal Airlines Corporation has changed the flight schedule that was previously operating at Gulmi.
Nepal Airlines Corporation had previously been operating four flights a week on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. With the change in the flight schedule, from now on, there will be only three flights a week on Sunday, Tuesday and Saturday, informed Suman Thapa, Station Chief of Resunga Airport, Gulmi.
Nepal Airlines Corporation currently has only three Twin Otter aircraft and the aircraft need to be repaired from time to time, so the corporation has changed the previous regular schedule for some time, he said. Except for rainy season, bad weather and thick fog, regular flights have been operating at Resunga Airport for the last three months.
At the airport, the corporation has been operating flights from Kathmandu to Gulmi at 6:30 am and from Resunga Airport at 7:30 am using an 18-seat Twin Otter. The corporation has fixed the fare from Kathmandu to Gulmi at 7,500 and from Gulmi to Kathmandu at 7,300. Since there is high air pressure at the airport during the afternoon, flights are only operated in the morning from a technical point of view.
With the start of air flights, the number of domestic and foreign tourists visiting the district has also increased. The citizens of this region, who were forced to travel for 18 hours to reach the capital, can now travel from Gulmi to the capital in 45 minutes by air.
The number of citizens using air services in the district has been increasing in recent times. However, despite the increase in the number of passengers, the number of flights is small and the flight schedule keeps changing, which has caused problems for the citizens of this region. Nepal Airlines Corporation had started commercial air service in the district since 29 Baisakh 2080.
