Galeshwor-Pulashram-Jagannath Road: Completed five months ahead of schedule

What you should know

The project to upgrade the road connecting three religious sites in Beni Municipality - Galeshwor, Pulashram (later) and Jagannath - has been completed ahead of schedule.

The project, which had a construction period of one year and was implemented through the Infrastructure Development Office, was completed five months ahead of schedule. The Gandaki Province Government had ensured a budget of Rs 35.998 crore and BBPL BSDS Dhawalagiri was selected for the construction of the project.

The contract agreement for the project, signed on Asad 16, 2082 for Rs 22.346 crore, was till Asad 16, 2083. Ward Chairman of Beni Municipality-9, Chakra KC, said that the project was completed ahead of schedule due to the construction entrepreneurs mobilizing sufficient labor, equipment and managing construction materials, facilitation, monitoring at the local level and coordination from the related offices.

'In a situation where most projects are stalled due to delays, the message has been conveyed that if the entrepreneurs, related offices and the local level can create an environment for work, the delays in development projects can be eliminated,' he said, 'We had formed a concern committee to facilitate social problems arising during the construction of the project.'

Through this plan, a 300-meter slope and 1,100-meter stretch of the road from Beni Municipality-9 to Galeshwor via Kaulegowda has been widened, curves and grade improvements, walls and drains have been constructed, said Dr. Mahendra Baniya, Chief Senior Division Engineer of the Infrastructure Development Office.

The previously four-meter-wide road has now been made seven meters wide. A road upgrade plan has been launched to connect Beni Bazaar from Galeshwor via Pulashram Jagannath to Galeshwor, Pachai and Jagannath for the convenience of pilgrims going to Mustang via Myagdi, and for the convenience of locals.

Ward Chairman KC said that the provincial government has taken the initiative to manage the budget for the upgrade of the remaining section. In the previous term, about two kilometers of road were upgraded in the Galeshwor-Kaulegouda area through Beni Municipality.
