Nepal Electricity Authority has brought into operation a 132 kV transmission line for the first time in Karnali Province.

NEA Executive Director Hitendradev Shakya believed that the Kohalpur-Surkhet 132 kV transmission line under the Kohalpur-Surkhet-Dailekh 132 kV transmission line project would help in the economic growth of the province.

He said that in the past, electricity was supplied to Karnali province through a 33 kV transmission line, which caused overload, intermittent power outages, and significant improvement in low-voltage problems. He said that with the operation of the project, large industries will start in Karnali and they may spend the most on the electricity industry.

After conducting an on-site inspection in the third week of Poush, Executive Director Shakya had instructed the contractor company to work in a way that charges the project quickly.

Project Chief Ravi Kumar Chaudhary said that it was possible to complete the work of the approximately 52-kilometer-long Kolpur-Surkhet section quickly as per the responsibility given by the NEA. He said that now the work of the second section, Surkhet-Dailekh section, will proceed at a rapid pace.
