Imports increased by 31 percent in the first six months compared to the same period last year.
Seven types of pulses worth Rs 7.64 billion have been imported through Birgunj in the first six months of the current fiscal year.
In the first 6 months of the last fiscal year, pulses worth Rs 1.8 billion were imported. Birgunj Customs Office Information Officer Uday Singh Bista said that imports increased by 31 percent in the first 6 months of the current fiscal year compared to the first 6 months of the previous fiscal year. While in the first 6 months of the previous fiscal year, pulses worth Rs 5.83 billion were imported. In the first 6 months of the current fiscal year, pulses worth Rs 3.82 billion were imported.
Similarly, beans/rajma worth Rs 1.17 billion were imported during the same period. In the first 6 months of the current fiscal year, gram worth Rs 1.14 billion was imported.
Similarly, other legumes worth Rs 1 billion were imported. Rahar dal worth Rs 270 million and kerau worth Rs 160 million were imported. Similarly, bakulla worth Rs 51 million was imported.
