Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport has been closed since 7:20 a.m. due to dense fog. It is estimated that it will take some time for the airport to reopen.

According to the airport office, the visibility is only 500 meters until 9:30 am.

Aircraft approaching RNPR require at least 1,100 meters of visibility to land, while aircraft using the VOR-DME system must have a minimum visibility of 1,600 meters at Kathmandu Airport. At least 1,200 meters of visibility is also required to take off from Kathmandu.

Due to this, some international flights arriving in Kathmandu are currently on hold in the skies above Simara.

Similarly, domestic flights have also been disrupted. According to Buddha Air, Biratnagar, Rajbiraj, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, Surkhet and Tumlingtar airports are yet to be operational.

The airport office has advised passengers to contact the airline company for information before their trip.
