Pokhara, Biratnagar, Gautam Buddha (Bhairahawa), Nepalgunj, and Chandragadhi airports saw the highest passenger traffic in 2025.

According to the data released by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal on passenger traffic and flight numbers at domestic airports in 2025, Pokhara Airport has the highest passenger traffic outside Kathmandu. 427,414 passengers arrived here and 459,370 passengers departed from there. The total number of passengers from the airport has reached 886,784.

In 2025, Biratnagar Airport handled 735,525 passengers, Gautam Buddha Airport in Bhairahawa handled 729,097 passengers, Nepalgunj handled 535,920 passengers, and Chandragadhi handled 395,038 passengers.

These five airports seem to have borne a large share of the country's domestic passenger traffic.

Lukla (Tenzing-Hillary) is at the top of the airports with the most flights in 2025. Where 33,420 flights were operated. Similarly, 26,782 flights were operated in Pokhara, 13,434 in Nepalgunj, 11,931 in Gautam Buddha and 11,692 in Biratnagar.

Both passengers and flights are still low at some airports in remote areas. Ilam (Sukilumba) Airport had 87 passengers in 12 flights in 2025. Bajhang in the Far West had 127 passengers in 14 flights, Safebagar in Achham had 380 passengers in 80 flights, Rumjatar had 638 passengers in 98 flights and Thamkharka had 633 passengers in 98 flights.

According to Gyanendra Bhul, Joint Spokesperson of the Civil Aviation Authority, the number of passengers on domestic flights is continuously increasing. There is a high volume of two-way passengers at Pokhara, Lukla, Bhairahawa, Biratnagar and Nepalgunj airports.
