Along with politics and agriculture, Panth's other passion is music. He said that he is preparing to release a song related to agriculture soon.
What you should know
What does it mean that those who do politics should only go to the doors of leaders and people 'carrying a bag'? They should also be able to become self-reliant by doing income-generating activities in their free time. Recently, people are also found involved in income-generating activities along with politics. Suresh Pantha of Madhuvan-4 in the district is one such person.
He has become known as a professional agriculturalist in the district. More people know him as a farmer than a 'leader'. In 2079 BS, he was defeated by a narrow margin in the election for the House of Representatives of Bardiya-2 from the then Unified Maoist. Since then, he has been busy with commercial agricultural work in various places in the district.
His Inclusive Agriculture Firm Pvt. Ltd. is located in Gulariya Municipality-3. The firm cultivates fish in a natural way as well as perennial golden lemon. In addition, Tharu potatoes and native garlic are cultivated for the conservation and research of vegetable crops. The firm has become a study center for farmers. The state-of-the-art infrastructure under construction for cattle farming has reached the final stage. He said that he chose the district to engage in agriculture because it has fertile land, irrigation facilities, and he is a local resident.
‘I consider politics as social service,’ he said, ‘Agriculture is my real profession.’ He said that he has invested in the idea of encouraging locals to raise cattle and buying the cattle they produce. Other farmers in the district are also happy with this scheme. Fish are being raised naturally in Gulariya-3. He said that they have leased the old Sarjunadi from Gulariya Municipality for fish farming. Three months ago, one lakh fry were released in a one-kilometer stretch of the river. Panth says that since the fish fry were released by growing grass and ley in that stretch of the river, they did not have to be fed artificial feed.
His lemon farming has also become an attraction in the district. Six years ago, he had cultivated golden lemon as an experiment in his own three bigha farm in Madhuvan-8. After growing lemons there, he rented 8 bighas of barren land in Gulariya Municipality-3 four years ago and expanded lemon farming. It has been four years since he planted lemons in four out of the eight bighas. He said that it has been three years since he cultivated lemons in the other four bighas. ‘The lemons started producing in four years,’ he said, ‘I am satisfied with the lemon production.’ He said that he cultivated them because 96 percent of lemons are imported every year.
Panth said that lemons are being consumed in Gulariya and Nepalgunj. ‘Using technology, lemon farming is becoming easier,’ he said, ‘I have arranged drip irrigation in lemon farming, I have connected pipes to the roots of each lemon plant, vitamins and medicines have reached through drip irrigation. There is also no need for manpower.' He said that since the start of lemon cultivation on 4 bighas, 30 quintals of lemon have been sold so far. There are still plenty of lemon seeds on the plant. He estimates that one hundred quintals of lemon will be produced in the first year and the income will be around 1.2 million.
Recently, 4 large modern sheds have been built to raise cattle according to 'Euro' standards. He said that the construction of a cowshed free of cholera disease has reached the final stage on the advice of a technician. 'There is a plan to raise cattle in the open for fast production and healthy meat,' he said. 'As per the advice of a technician, a suitable place has been made in the shed for feeding feed and grass. Since it is raised in the open, there is a pond in front of the shed, where the cattle can bathe and play as they wish.'
He said that the construction of the structure can be completed within three months. He said that preparations have been completed to plant grass and raise 1,000 padas within 6 months. The construction of a godown with a capacity of 40,000 metric tons of grass is also in the final stages. He has leased 16 bighas of land for 15 years at an annual rate of Rs 30,000 per bigha.
Along with politics and agriculture, Pantha's other passion is music. He has composed and composed songs himself. He said that he is preparing to launch songs related to agriculture soon. In addition, during the Corona epidemic in the country, he personally distributed health supplies to the general public, media personnel, security personnel and government employees of the district. On the occasion of Constitution Day 2077 BS, the young entrepreneur Pantha has also been honored with the Janasewa Shree Fifth Class by the President for his social contribution.
