Minister Ghising says no contract was broken intentionally
Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development Kulman Ghising has said that it is imperative to terminate sick contracts that have not been worked on for years.
At a program organized in the capital on Tuesday to mark the 23rd anniversary of the Road Board of Nepal, Minister Ghising said that the contract was terminated to send a message that action will be taken if work is not done and to discourage the tendency to win contracts by offering low prices.
The Road Department has terminated 40 unhealthy contracts so far. Clarifying that no contract was terminated intentionally, Minister Ghising said that construction entrepreneurs are encouraged to complete the work of the contracts they have taken on on time.
The board has stated that it will continue to expand the concept of collecting fees from consumers and managing the financial management of road infrastructure maintenance and protection costs in accordance with the principle of 'service fee'.
