Pokhara-Jomsom air service suspended for three months

A private airline company has suspended Pokhara-Jomsom air service for three months as the number of people visiting Mustang during the winter season declines.

The companies that have been operating regular flights, Summit Airlines and Tara Airlines, have suspended air services due to adverse weather, possibility of snowfall and tourist off-season, informed Deepak Pokharel, Chief of the Civil Aviation Office, Jomsom.

According to Chief Pokharel, charter and emergency helicopter services will not be stopped even though regular air services have been suspended. Tara Airlines Mustang Station In-charge Suchan Lalchan said that the company has suspended Pokhara-Jomsom flights from December 4 to March 1. Similarly, Summit Airlines has stated that it has suspended regular flights for two months.

Pokhara-Jomsom flights are also affected due to the winds in Mustang during winter.  Recently, the number of air passengers has started decreasing as the Beni-Jomsom-Korla road has become easier.
