Electrical equipment worth crores of rupees has been left stranded at the Tila Micro Hydropower Project located in Tila Rural Municipality-2 of the district.
Various equipment used to generate electricity has been lying on the streets since the hydropower project was shut down for a long time. Locals say that after the closure of the hydropower project, which was built with the aim of expanding electricity to remote areas, the materials purchased at a cost of lakhs of rupees have become useless.

'The equipment was purchased at the initiative of the people's representatives elected in the 2074 BS local level elections. We brought those items to the rural municipality after we were elected. Only a small amount was paid as an advance during the time of the previous people's representatives,' said Motilal Rokaya, chairman of Tila Rural Municipality.
With the aim of generating one megawatt of electricity from the Tila River in Tila-7, the project was built at the initiative of Tila Rural Municipality and the then member of the House of Representatives, Gajendra Bahadur Mahat, spending Rs 110 million in the Infrastructure Development Fund. Locals are pressing for the immediate operation of the hydroelectric project, including the necessary equipment, as it has fallen into disuse.
