The second India-Nepal Tourism Meet has concluded in Pokhara with the aim of expanding tourism cooperation between Nepal and India. The event, organized by the Nepal Tourism Board in collaboration with the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and the Pokhara Tourism Council, focused on strengthening tourism partnership between Uttar Pradesh, India, and Gandaki Province, Nepal.

The International Year of Cooperatives was also celebrated at the program organized with the aim of promoting the tourism potential of Gandaki Province in the international market. Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendra Raj Pandey mentioned the growing tourism cooperation with India, focusing on Pokhara and Muktinath regions, as a positive and welcome step.

Deputy Chief of Mission of the Indian Embassy Dr. Rakesh Pandey said that the improvement in connectivity has given a new momentum to inter-country tourism and expressed the view that cooperation is indispensable in the joint promotion of religious and cultural tourism circuits of Nepal and India. He said that coordination between both sides is necessary to systematically advance border-focused tourism.

On this occasion, Dinesh Kumar, Joint Director of Uttar Pradesh Tourism, gave a presentation on the major tourism circuits of Uttar Pradesh. He presented the upcoming Magh Mela as a special attraction and informed about the practices adopted during the implementation of the tourism policy in the province.

About 10 tourism entrepreneurs and tour operators from India and 60 from Nepal participated in the BTU session organized under the program. The Nepal Tourism Board has stated that the discussions focused on promoting inter-country tourism via land routes, Buddhist circuits, wildlife, adventure and potential collaboration in the field of spiritual tourism.

As a continuation of this program, an introductory visit (fam trip) was organized for a delegation from Uttar Pradesh from 29 Mangsir to 2 Paush 2082 in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board and the Pokhara Tourism Council. The board says that through the visit, it is expected to expand tourism cooperation to a practical level through direct experience of Pokhara and surrounding destinations.

The Nepal Tourism Board has expressed confidence that such regional and inter-country programs will further strengthen Nepal-India tourism relations.
