Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Kulman Ghising has said that the use of local products should be promoted across the country. Speaking at the launch of the ‘Bamboo Structure Design Guidelines 2082’ organized by ‘Habitat for Humanity’ Nepal in Lalitpur with the slogan ‘Bamboo Housing for the Future’, he said that he is planning to encourage the use of local products.

Ghising also said that the use of local products and technology will create jobs. 'The use of local products and technology will create jobs,' he said, 'Commercial bamboo farming seems to boost domestic demand and also contribute to the international currency reserves spent on building structures. Therefore, let's use local technology for building structures, let's emphasize on preserving our originality.'

Ghising, who is also the Minister for Urban Development, said that not using wood and wood products from our own country has had a negative impact on the economy. Now, he stressed the need to focus on using bamboo and other materials in the construction of innovative, technology-friendly and earthquake-resistant structures. 'We have been spending a lot of money on wood imports, let's create an environment for using bamboo structures, it will bring a big change in the economy,' he said.
