A delegation from the Morang Industry Organization has met with Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Anil Kumar Sinha, and Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Rajendra Singh Bhandari, presenting contemporary problems and suggestions related to the industry and business sector and urging their implementation.
The delegation led by Chairman Nandakishore Rathi included the organization's current Chairman Rakesh Surana, Senior Vice Chairman Bholeshwor Dulal, Vice Presidents Surendra Golchha and Bipin Kawra, Working Committee members Santosh Bhagat, Ukesh Agrawal and Jayendra Sharma, and Director General Chudamani Bhattarai.
During the discussion with the ministers, Chairman Rathi pointed out the need for the government to boost the morale of the private sector through a clear, positive and trustworthy message, considering the contribution that the private sector has been making to the economic, industrial and social development of the country. He stated that simplification of procedural complexities, ensuring peace and security, and creating an investment-friendly environment are essential for the smooth operation of the industrial and business sector, which is the backbone of the economy, and urged the creation of an environment where the private sector can directly experience these issues.
These are the nine-point suggestions:
1. Boosting the declining morale of the private sector: The government should take initiatives to create a positive environment while respecting the contribution made by the private sector to economic, industrial and social transformation and make arrangements for the operation of industries and businesses in a fear-free environment.
2. Ensuring power supply during dry season: Keeping in mind the approaching dry season, initiatives should be taken to ensure the necessary power supply for the industries and businesses. In addition, the under-construction substation in Barju, Sunsari should be completed immediately and the dilapidated transmission lines of the Sunsari-Morang-Katahari industrial corridor should be repaired and maintained.
3. Operation of railway cargo service up to Biratnagar ICP: In order to operate the Biratnagar cargo rail service commercially, the handling fee charged at the railway yard in Nepal should be revised immediately and the service should be brought into regular operation.
4. Morang-Katahari section postal road: The construction process of the postal road section under the Kathari area of Morang should be resumed and the construction work should be completed immediately.
5. Use of domestic products in public bodies: The use of domestic products should be ensured to the maximum extent in public bodies.
6. Cash subsidy in exports: The cash subsidy system being provided to industries and businesses for exports should be continued and the application process should be restarted as soon as possible.
7. Increase in capital expenditure: Necessary initiatives should be taken towards increasing capital and public expenditure to make the overall market dynamic again. 8. Regarding the Customs Act 2082: The provisions included in the new Customs Act 2082, which came into effect on November 20, that may have a long-term negative impact on the industry and business sector should be amended.
9. Simplification of procedural complexity: Arrangements should be made to make the processes including services and facilities that industries and businesses need to receive from various government agencies, VAT and tax-related procedures, business registration and renewal, bonded warehouse registration and renewal, etc. simple, quick, and easy.
