Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development Kulman Ghising has urged subordinate bodies to prioritize the restoration and reconstruction of public and government structures damaged during the Gen-G movement.

In a meeting of the Urban Development Ministry-level Development Problem Resolution Committee held on Wednesday, Minister Ghising directed to move forward as soon as possible, saying that it should not take three to four years for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of government and public structures.

During the agitation, 125 structures within the jurisdiction of the Urban Development and Building Construction Department suffered minor damage (green sticker), 100 partial damage (yellow sticker) and 44 complete damage (red sticker).

Similarly, 51 structures within the jurisdiction of the Federal Secretariat Construction and Management Office, including the President's Office, Prime Minister's Residence Singha Durbar, Minister's Residence, and Parliament Building, were damaged. Out of these, 15 have green, 29 yellow and 7 red stickers.

Of the green sticker buildings within the jurisdiction of the department, 8 have been repaired and 38 are in the final stages. A detailed assessment of the damage is being done by appointing consultants for the yellow and red sticker buildings. The target is to complete the evaluation within a month. Minister Ghising instructed to proceed with a new process by terminating the contracts of projects that have been made sick for years. 'Why not terminate the contract?' Let's not sit around saying that the construction entrepreneur has contacted us after issuing a notice saying, "Let's not take the guarantee of work, let's not take the decision that should be taken from our side and let's not sit around saying that the construction entrepreneur has not done the work, how can they not work for years but now they are working? Let's terminate such contracts immediately," he said.

42 contracts are sick within the scope of the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction. Out of these, 37 contracts were issued with notices saying why not terminate the contracts, but only 3 contracts have been terminated. The department has stated that 36 contracts have been contacted and are ready to start work after the notice was issued and 1 has not been contacted at all.

16 contracts under the Local Infrastructure Development Department are sick . Out of these, a notice was issued stating why the contracts of 6 should not be terminated . Out of these, only one contract has been terminated .
