The 53.5 MW Upper Myagdi-1 Hydropower Project under construction in Dhawalagiri and Malika rural municipalities of Myagdi has achieved 30 percent physical progress.

The dam, tunnel and power house construction work of the project promoted by Upper Myagdi Hydropower Limited has gained momentum. Project Chief Jyoti Kumar KC informed that 30.94 percent physical and 30.80 percent financial progress have been made in a year.

'Tunnel digging is underway from four places. We have also accelerated the construction of the power house and dam as per the target of starting electricity generation by Falgun 2083,' he said. Of the total 5,789.71-meter-long tunnel, 2,360 meters have been completed so far.

45 percent physical progress has been achieved at the dam construction site. An agreement was signed with Luna Builders and Contractors for the project on Chaitra 19, 2080.

A 15-meter-high and 40-meter-long dam is being constructed in Khamla, Dhawalagiri Rural Municipality-4 to divert the water of the Myagdi River into the tunnel. Three water retention ponds, each 100 meters long and 15 meters high, are under construction near the dam construction site. 

A study is underway to construct a 1.5-kilometer transmission line with a capacity of 132 kV from the power plant to the 132 kV substation under construction in Malika Rural Municipality-7, Dandakhet. 

The power plant of the project, which will be built with an investment of Rs 11.23 billion 27.6 thousand, raised through loans from 6 banks, generating companies and shares from the general public, under the leadership of Sanima Bank, will be located in Malika Rural Municipality-7, Bharwang. An average of 315.01 gigawatt hours of electricity will be connected to the central line from this project annually.
