Petroleum products worth Rs 54.12 billion imported through Birgunj border in four months

A revenue of Rs 22.9 billion has been collected from the import of diesel, petrol, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), aviation turbine fuel (ATF), and kerosene.

Petroleum products worth Rs 54.12 billion have been imported through the Birgunj border in the first four months of the current fiscal year.

 22.9 billion rupees have been collected from the import of diesel, petrol, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), aviation turbine fuel (ATF) and kerosene. According to the Birgunj Customs Office, the import of five types of petroleum products increased by Rs 2.93 billion in the same period of the current fiscal year compared to the four months of the previous fiscal year. 

Whereas, during the four months of the previous fiscal year, the import of petroleum products worth Rs 51.19 billion has generated a revenue of Rs 20.89 billion. Bishnu Prasad Gyawali, Chief Customs Administrator of the Birgunj Customs Office, informed that there has been some increase in the import of petroleum products in the four months of the current fiscal year. 'The revenue received from the import of petroleum products has also increased by 9.60 percent compared to the four months of the previous fiscal year,' he said. 

Birgunj Customs Office has imported 268,676 kiloliters of diesel worth Rs 24.4 billion in the current fiscal year till mid-Kartik. Revenue of Rs 10.73 billion has been collected from this diesel import. While in the same period of the last fiscal year, diesel worth Rs 21.83 billion was imported. Revenue of Rs 9.78 billion was collected from this.

In the four months of the current fiscal year, 166,663 kiloliters of petrol worth Rs 14.27 billion have been imported. Revenue of Rs 9.43 billion has been collected from this petrol import. While in the four months of the last fiscal year, revenue of Rs 8.11 billion was collected from petrol import worth Rs 12.43 billion.

In the four months of the current fiscal year, 97.396 thousand 472 kilograms of LP gas worth Rs 9.77 billion have been imported. A revenue of Rs 1.83 billion has been collected from that import. Similarly, in the same period of the previous fiscal year, Rs 100 million, 359 thousand kilograms of LP gas worth Rs 11.10 billion was imported. A revenue of Rs 2.8 billion has been collected from that import.
