New egg prices implemented to cover farmers' costs

As the cold weather worsens, egg consumption has increased, and Nepali eggs have started fetching good prices due to the restrictions imposed on the Indian border, which have stopped illegal eggs.

The association has stated that Nepali eggs have received a new price effective from today, which will cover the cost of farmers. The meeting of the Nepal Layer Poultry Farmers Association held on Friday discussed the production and marketing of Nepali eggs and determined the minimum support price effective from today, informed the association's chairman Binod Pokharel.

According to the price list issued based on the farmers' farm costs, its price has increased significantly. According to the new rate, extra large (XL) eggs are priced at Rs 560 per crate (30 pieces), large eggs are priced at Rs 545, medium eggs are priced at Rs 530 and small eggs are priced at Rs 3250 per crate.

According to Chairman Pokharel, this is an increase of Rs 40 per crate compared to the previous price. Due to the increased restrictions on the border in India due to the elections and the closure of the illegal route to Nepal, Nepali eggs have received a fair price. According to him, egg consumption naturally increases during the winter months. Pokharel said, "Demand has also increased as public awareness has increased that eggs should be eaten in the cold."

Last Shrawan, the price of eggs had reached Rs 560 and had been gradually decreasing since then. The association has stated that it is now gradually increasing again and farmers are in a position to cover the cost.
