Nepal Rastra Bank has introduced a new one hundred rupee note into circulation from today (Mangsir 11). The new note, signed by outgoing Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari, was introduced by the Rastra Bank.
The note has the code number 20 A 000001 to 40 D 999999, the central bank said. 'If you come to ask for payment of the rupee guaranteed by the Nepal government, you will get one hundred rupees from Nepal Rastra Bank immediately,' it says.
The note has a picture of Mount Everest on the left, a water seal of Laligurans on the right, a map of Nepal including Limpiyadhura and Lipulekh in the middle, a picture of the Ashoka Pillar in the middle, and a black dot for the visually impaired to identify the note, the central bank said.
The note has a 2 mm wide color-changing security thread (red when the note is viewed straight and green when tilted), the central bank said.
'BS 2081' is written in Nepali. Earlier, the central bank issued a 100 rupee banknote code number from 2076 BS Asoj 7. It was said that the notes from O 18 000001 to A 37 999999 would be put into circulation. But the National Bank has stated that only 18 O 000001 to 19 A 19 034500 have been put into circulation.
