Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal has said that the government is fully committed to strengthening the sense of security, including the security of the private sector.

At a program organized by the Inland Revenue Department on the occasion of National Tax Day-2082, he expressed concern over the situation that the 'Genji Movement' has caused in the private sector.

According to Finance Minister Khanal, the dissatisfaction shown by the Genji Movement is not only towards the government or political parties but also towards the entire society and the private sector. 'The pain accumulated among the youth due to lack of inclusiveness in development and unemployment has been reflected in the movement,' he said.

Stating that the responsibility of ensuring the security of the private sector is the first priority of the government, Finance Minister Khanal said, 'The government fully guarantees security. Good governance, control of corruption and creating an environment where citizens can live with dignity is security in itself.'

According to him, initial reports have come that the recent movement has caused damage to physical infrastructure worth about 78 billion. Government statistics indicate that about 2,900 buildings have been damaged in 55 districts across the country.

Stating that the government has allocated resources worth Rs 120 billion from the current fiscal year's budget for the reconstruction of the damage caused during the Genji Movement, Finance Minister Khanal expressed confidence that the amount would be sufficient for the reconstruction.

He stressed the need for effective coordination between the private sector and the government. Stating that some necessary laws have not been brought as the parliament is not in session at present, Khanal mentioned that it is also difficult to bring long-term laws through ordinances.
