Jagdamba Steels, Ghorahi Cement, Arghakhanchi Cement and Triveni Spinning Mills have paid the first installment in the dedicated and trunkline arrears dispute. According to the Nepal Electricity Authority, these industries paid the first installment of the total 28 installments on Wednesday.

According to the authority, Jagadamba Steels has paid Rs 57.2 million, Ghorahi Rs 18.1 million, Arghakhanchi Rs 16.0 million, and Triveni Rs 11.4 million.

The authority had disconnected the electricity of 23 industries on Kartik 4 and Kartik 7 for non-payment of dues.

According to the authority, since Tihar, Bhalwari Automatic Rice Industry, Panchakanya Steel, Panchakanya Plastic, Shyam Plastic, Siddharth Pet Plast, Gharana Foods, Goenka Foods, Reliance Spinning Mills, and Triveni Synthetic have had their lines reconnected after the industries paid the first installment. Authority spokesperson Rajan Dhakal said that the disconnected lines were reconnected after the industries paid the first installment.

On November 17, Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Kulman Ghising, Chief Secretary Eknarayan Aryal and Chairman of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Chand Prasad Dhakal agreed to simplify the payment of dedicated and trunk line tariffs and make arrangements for hearing reviews. In the discussion, it was reported that the industrialists had verbally agreed to pay the first installment of the 28 installments given by the NEA as a deposit, not as an 'installment' but as a 'disputed amount', and to immediately connect the power line and then proceed through review, appeal and judicial processes.

The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has sent a letter to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation on November 21, requesting necessary facilitation regarding the payment of additional premium tariffs for dedicated trunk lines and making arrangements for hearing reviews. The letter has asked the relevant bodies, industrialists and businessmen, and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry to provide necessary facilitation to operate the industry. However, the Ministry of Energy has stated that it has already sent a letter to the NEA asking it to implement the letter from the Prime Minister's Office.
