The capacity utilization of industries in Bagmati Province has decreased in the last fiscal year compared to the previous fiscal year. According to the Economic Activity Study Report of the Nepal Rastra Bank, the average capacity utilization of the industries included in the sample selection of Bagmati Province in the fiscal year 2081/82 is 38.7 percent. Last year, such capacity utilization was 44.3 percent.
Among the industries selected by the National Bank, the noodle industry has the highest capacity utilization, while the garment industry has the lowest capacity utilization among the textile and clothing industries, the report states.
In the last fiscal year, the production of beer, cigarettes, transformers, and tablets, capsules, ointments, dry syrups, and liquids among the products of the Bagmati Province has increased. However, the production of processed milk, animal feed, noodles, light beverages, pashmina, garments, paints, bricks, and electricity has decreased.
The report states that a total of 6,266 people, including 6,078 locals and 188 foreigners, have been employed in the province. Most of the industries operating in Bagmati Province are located in the Kathmandu Valley, Chitwan, and Makawanpur.
The major industries in this province include leather footwear, cloth footwear, carpets, pashmina, felt goods, animal feed, woolen ready-made garments, cotton ready-made garments, decorative items, noodles, biscuits, beverages, bricks, pharmaceuticals and cement industries.
A total of 543 industries have been registered in the fiscal year 2081/82. The report states that the operation of such established industries will further contribute to the economic development of Bagmati Province.
