The customs office in Bhairahawa, Rupandehi, which was burned during protests two months ago, has improved revenue collection.
The office, which started its services by setting up a tent in the premises immediately after the arson, has collected Rs 27.75 billion 53.78 million in revenue in the last three months of the fiscal year 2082/083. Which is only 97.15 percent of the target set by the Customs Department. According to
Customs Chief Shivlal Neupane, the Customs had achieved a revenue collection target of Rs 28.57 billion 22 million in the months of Shrawan, Bhadra and Asoj of the current year. According to him, the office had collected more revenue than the target in Shrawan last year. The target could not be met in Bhadra and Asoj. According to the customs, the highest number of motorcycles have been imported in the last three months. Similarly, jeeps, cars and vans, petrol, electric vehicles, LP gas, tar bitumen, MS billet, betel nut, chocolate, sponge and ferrous iron have been imported in large quantities. Neupane said that the contribution of 10 main imported items in revenue collection is more than 50 percent.
