The corporation was leaderless after the term of Executive Chairman Yubaraj Adhikari ended during Tihar. Rai said that Prime Minister Sushila Karki appointed Rai, who was the vice-chairman of the board of directors, as the chairman on Friday. Rai, who is the director of Prasadi Academy and Hamro Holidays Pvt. Ltd., was appointed a member of the board of directors by the then Minister of Tourism Sudan Kirati.
After the oath, Acting Secretary of the ministry Indu Ghimire directed Chairman Rai and Acting General Manager Janakraj Kalakheti to take the corporation forward on the path of reform, introduce a systematic system, and lead the corporation.
The newly appointed Chairman Rai thanked the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation for the trust and confidence shown in him in the current challenging situation.
