As of Wednesday, only Rs 62.4 million has been collected from the fund established by the government for the reconstruction of public infrastructure damaged during the protests on Bhadra 23 and 24.

For the reconstruction of public infrastructure, the government had urged everyone to voluntarily contribute by opening a bank account in the name of the ‘Physical Infrastructure Reconstruction Fund’ at the National Commercial Bank on October 25.

According to which, individuals and organizations have contributed about 62 million rupees, according to the Ministry of Finance.

So far, there have been fewer organizations and more individuals contributing to the fund. In terms of amount, the highest amount collected has been 15 million rupees, while more than a dozen individuals have received one rupee, according to sources.

During the protests, both the government and private sectors have suffered huge losses. The damage has not yet been assessed. However, officials at the Ministry of Finance have said that initial figures show that the government and private sectors have lost more than 100 billion rupees. The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, an umbrella organization for the private sector, has claimed that more than 80 billion rupees of private property has been damaged.

Since then, the government has started a study to determine the details of the damage and the reconstruction cost. 45 days have been given for this work.
