The Nepal Electricity Authority has started disconnecting the lines of industries that have not paid premium tariffs by consuming electricity from dedicated and trunk lines.
The authority disconnected the electricity lines of Jagdamba Steel, Reliance Spinning Mills, Shivam Cement, Ghorahi Cement, Arghakhanchi Cement Industries and Triveni Spinning Mills on Tuesday morning.
Jagdamba has a debt of Rs 1.6 billion, Reliance has a debt of Rs 753.7 million, Shivam has a debt of Rs 778.8 million, Ghorahi has a debt of Rs 508.5 million, Arghakhanchi has a debt of Rs 448.4 million and Triveni has a debt of Rs 321.1 million. This debt is an additional fee for the use of dedicated and trunk lines from Magh 2072 to Baisakh 2075.
Nepal Electricity Authority Executive Director Manoj Silwal said that counters have been arranged so that the industry can pay its dues even during the public holiday of Tihar. He said that if the first installment is paid in installments, the disconnected line will be connected at any time.
