The National Innovation Center has invented a battery-powered 'Agricultural E-Trailer' at the Agricultural Tool Factory, Birgunj. This small hand tractor does not require diesel or petrol to operate. This hand tractor, which runs on a lead-acid battery, can be used for agricultural purposes such as plowing, spraying pesticides and transporting goods for commercial purposes.
According to Ritesh Dev, Chief Engineer of the Birgunj Center, this is the first battery-powered tractor in Nepal.
The center itself has also made the cultivator used for mining purposes in this tractor. The tractor was designed by the center's technical team, while the other 'attachment parts' used in it have also been manufactured in the center. Only the motor, battery, controller, etc. have been purchased.
This tractor, which can be easily operated by anyone, weighs about 70 to 80 kg. It can carry and transport up to four hundred kg. The tractor has main equipment such as a motor, gear box, wheel controller, etc. Like other vehicles, it can also be towed.
Engineer Dev said that this tractor has been successfully tested in the factory premises and is currently being tested in farmers' fields. The center's technical team produced this tractor after about two months of effort.
He said that during the production of the tractor, some farmers came to the center and inquired about its production and even showed interest in purchasing this tractor.
Engineer Dev said that more tractors will be produced according to the farmers' demand after testing in the farmers' fields. Stating that the price of the tractor has not been determined yet, Engineer Dev also said that the price will be determined after commercial production begins.
