Two important agreements have been signed today between the government of Nepal and the government of Germany. The agreement was signed by Dhaniram Sharma, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, on behalf of the Government of Nepal, and Udo Volz, the German Ambassador to Nepal, on behalf of the German Government.

As part of the financial support, the German government has committed up to 20 million euros (about 2.8 billion rupees) for the 'Power Distribution Strengthening' program.

This project will be implemented through the Nepal Electricity Authority, which aims to upgrade and strengthen the electricity distribution system across the country. According to the contract, the project should be completed by September 5, 2029. The

technical cooperation agreement is based on a long-term framework agreement signed in 1974 and revised in 2009. Under this, the German government will support up to 21 million euros, which aims to strengthen the infrastructure of the health system while supporting gender equality and social inclusion strategies in the health sector. Cooperation is said to be through a program to promote inclusive and climate-resilient economic development in the fields of agriculture and private sector development.

Implementation of the revenue sector reform project in the governance sector, which will contribute to sustainable development, is written in the statement. In addition, advisory and technical assistance will be provided through the Study and Expert Fund. Technical assistance should also be completed within five years, i.e. by September 5, 2029.

Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance Sharma expressed his gratitude for Germany's continuous support and said that these agreements will deepen the Nepal-Germany relationship and reflect the common commitment of both countries towards sustainable and inclusive development.

Similarly, Ambassador Udo Volz said that the new commitment will further strengthen cooperation with Nepal in the fields of energy, sustainable economic development and health.
