An average of 1,000 megawatts of electricity consumed within the country is being exported on a daily basis.
Nepal Electricity Authority has said that since July of the current fiscal year 2082/83, electricity worth about 15 billion rupees has been exported.
Manoj Silwal, executive of the Authority, said that the excess electricity consumed within the country is being exported on an average of 1,000 megawatts daily.
Indian Energy Exchange (IX) is selling electricity in Haryana and Bihar states at competitive rates on day-ahead and real-time markets and under bilateral medium-term power sales agreements.
Using India's transmission line, 40 megawatts of electricity is being exported to Bangladesh on a daily basis.
Electricity trade with India is done in Indian rupees (Bharu) and up to Bangladesh in US dollars .
Therefore, the sale of electricity is earning money and dollars. The Authority has received permission to export 1165 MW electricity to India and Bangladesh.
