National flag carrier Nepal Air Service Corporation (Nepal Airlines) has started direct flights to Guangzhou, China. The corporation has been operating regular flights from Kathmandu-Guangzhou-Kathmandu since Saturday.
Although the corporation had planned to operate a flight in Guangzhou, China from October 9, due to some technical problems, the inaugural flight of the corporation took place only on Saturday afternoon. The flight was canceled when the people from various regions and some number of passengers had reached the Tribhuvan International Airport participating in the inaugural flight to Guangzhou. The corporation managed the passengers arriving at the airport. According to Manoj Kumar Sah, spokesperson of the
corporation, the plane that flew from Kathmandu to Guangzhou on Saturday afternoon returned to Kathmandu on Sunday with 107 passengers from Guangzhou. There will be regular flights to Guangzhou according to the predetermined schedule.
Corporation has scheduled three regular flights every week. The first flight will be on October 12th, followed by October 30th, October 2nd and October 6th. After that, there will be a direct flight to Guangzhou every Sunday, Tuesday and Saturday. According to the corporation, the one-way fare from Kathmandu to Guangzhou is Rs 30,000 and the double ticket is Rs 50,000.
Currently China Southern is flying regularly to Kathmandu-Guangzhou destination. From Nepal, Himalaya Airlines has been flying regularly on this route. Gwangjao, which has a majority of Nepalese It is estimated that the flight will benefit the corporation financially.
With the company's Guangzhou flight, there will now be regular flights to 11 destinations in nine countries. Currently, the Nepal Airlines Corporation has two narrowbody and two widebody aircrafts to Doha in Qatar, Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Delhi in India, Mumbai and Bangalore, Bangkok in Thailand, Dammam in Saudi Arabia and Narita in Japan, according to the corporation.
