Contracts for long-standing dilapidated projects under the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development will be terminated.
Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development Minister Kulman Ghising instructed the secretaries and heads of departments of all the three ministries to immediately prepare and submit the list of dilapidated projects.
Taking information about the working of all the three ministries, Minister Ghising said that the project should not be allowed to stand still by looking at the faces of non-working construction professionals. "On the one hand, the country is suffering huge economic losses due to the ongoing large infrastructure projects not being completed within the specified time and quality, on the other hand, there is an ironic situation where the citizens are being deprived of the benefits of such projects," Minister Ghising said, "No one should look at anyone's face anymore, identify and evaluate such projects and submit a list immediately.
Minister Ghisingh says that the work will not be done without making a decision about this.' He said that the project cannot be shelved. According to the sources of the ministry, more than 300 roads and more than 100 bridge construction projects under irrigation, Sunkoshi-Marin multi-purpose of national pride, and more than 100 bridges under physical infrastructure are stalled.
Meanwhile, Minister Ghisingh has instructed to complete the Parliament building within the year. On Thursday, Secretary of the Ministry of Urban Development, Gopal Sigdel, Special Building Planning and Coordination Office, discussed the construction of the building with project consultants and builders, and instructed to complete the remaining work before next year.
"There is no parliament building after a great damage was done to the parliament building in Naya Baneshwar during the protest, so the construction of the parliament building is a sensitive project, it should not be delayed under this or that excuse," Minister Ghising said, "all aspects should be taken seriously and completed ahead of time." The contract agreement, which has been extended for the fifth time, is expiring in the coming month. But the physical progress of the project is only 86 percent. Minister Ghising has given instructions to stop irregularities in the agencies under his office. He warned that immediate action would be taken if irregularities were found.
