The government is going to arrange easy and accessible supply of quality consumer goods during the festival. The 71st meeting of the Central Monitoring and Evaluation Committee held at Sinha Darbar on Sunday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal has decided to make effective management of public transport, restoration of disaster-affected highways, control of seasonal diseases such as dengue, cholera, and lumpy skin.

The meeting decided to make proper arrangements for the provision of services to citizens from all levels of government agencies so that the presence of the state is directly felt by the people and immediate results are seen.

In that meeting, Chief Secretary Aryal instructed all officials concerned to work seriously to monitor the market and facilitate transport operations so that the presence of the state is visible. The meeting has decided that the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply will operate shops to provide consumer goods at reasonable prices in Kathmandu Valley and Salt Trading Corporation Limited through Food Arrangement and Trade Company Limited and Salt Trading Corporation Limited.

Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection has decided to arrange a toll-free number for collecting public complaints and to address the complaints received immediately. The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control has decided to stop the adulteration of inedible items in food, the sale and distribution of substandard food items, to maintain food hygiene and quality, to collect samples of dairy products, vegetables, fruits, meat, etc.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to monitor the market through all district administration offices to ensure easy supply of goods and services and control the use, sale and distribution of non-food items and the black market.

The Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Home Affairs, through the chief district officer and the Nepal Police, will arrange long-distance route permits for public transport, ticket booking based on fare rates, passenger seat capacity, and online system through the Chief District Officer and Nepal Police. 

It has been decided that the road department will make necessary arrangements to manage road accidents and disaster risk related to the road network, and bring the various blocked national highways and main roads back into operation by the 10th of October.

The decision of the meeting is that the Revenue Investigation Department will intensify the monitoring and surveillance to strictly control illegal transactions in the form of revenue fraud that may be caused by informal trading of goods and services.
