Hikmat Bista of Patarasi-6 Urtu in Jumla sold apples worth Rs 1.5 million last year. He has planted 2000 saplings in the garden and has been selling apples worth Rs 10 to 15 lakh every year. But he is very worried as more than 50 quintals of apples have not grown this year.

Bista, who grows the most apples in Urthu village, said that the production is less this time. He said, "This time the apple didn't fall". Earnings were also not good . But the apples that have grown are of very high quality.'

Pradeep Bista of the same village is an apple farmer as well as a businessman. He takes the neighbor's apples to Dhangadhi every year. Last year he delivered 10 cars of apples to Dhangadhi. But this year it is difficult to deliver 4 carts of apples .

Pradeep, who bought apples at 70 rupees per kg, also reduced the production of his own garden. Last year a carload of apples grew in his own garden . This year only three quintals of apples have grown . He said, "The demand for apples in the market is high". But it is difficult to deliver the apples because they are less fruitful.

He said that the orchards were empty due to excessive rain during the apple blossoming season, black mold and disease insect infection. According to him, in Urthu, where there are 150 households, even those who earn very little by selling apples used to get 1 lakh rupees. The maximum earning was up to 15 lakh rupees. But this year, those who will get more will not be able to reach 5 lakh rupees, he told.

There are 100 plants of farmers who have less gardens in the village. A maximum of 2 thousand plants have been planted. Prem Bahadur Bista, another farmer of Patarasi-6, is worried about the apple not growing . This year, only 6 quintals of apples have grown in his field . This time the apple fell in the bud. It didn't snow in winter . During the rainy season, there was a lot of rain and the fruit fell,' he said.

Urthu is known as Syau Village . The vacant land of this village is completely covered with apples. At this time, Urthu market was filled with cargo vehicles. But this time even the traders who came to buy apples had to return empty-handed. Pradeep said, "Apple was making the livelihood here easy". But this year, due to low yield, Yarsa has to travel to Patan to pick it.

According to Agricultural Development Office, apples are being cultivated in an area of 4,400 hectares in Jumla. The office estimates that the income of farmers will also decrease due to the decrease in production compared to last year.
