With the increased risk of disease in Akbare chillies, the farmers here are in trouble. The labor and investment of the farmers are at risk due to the appearance of diseases such as mildew, insect infestation, drying in the plant, fruit drop etc. in the fruit.

Many farmers have been forced to uproot and throw away the chillies after the disease has appeared on the plants bearing fruit. Dhan Bahadur Thapa, a farmer of Bhojpur Municipality-5, said that after the disease destroyed the chilli planted in about two plants, he had to plant other crops.

'This year, the risk of disease has increased in chillies,' he said, 'we farmers are worried because many types of diseases have appeared in the same plant at the same time. After the fruiting chili stalk rotted and died, the garden was destroyed, now I have started to plant other crops.'

Like Thapa, other farmers in the village who are farming professionally are also facing similar problems. According to local farmer Geeta Bista, the problems of chillies with frost, insect infestation, wilting of leaves, rotting of stems and yellowing of plants have been observed.

'We farmers are in trouble because of the disease in chillies', she said, 'Almost all the plants in the field are infected. The disease has been found in the chillies ready to be taken to the market, and the garden itself has been destroyed. Fruit rot has caused the most damage.' Farmers have started to destroy chilies that have been damaged by the disease. Farmers have said that about 1,500 plants have been completely destroyed by the disease. However, the farmers estimate that the production of chilies will decrease this year.
