Planting of Gulmi has been started by drawing water with a motor. In Isma rural municipality-2 Chaldiphant of the district, the local farmers have started planting paddy by delivering water to the fields by motor. Farmers were not able to plant paddy due to lack of irrigation facilities in the area across Chaldikhola.
Farmers used to plant paddy in this field after rain water accumulated in the field or after the root broke in the corner of the field. Earlier, river water used to come to the fields from the wells, but gradually the river became deeper, and Chalphant became without irrigation facilities. Recently, the farmers who have been planting crops due to sky rain have not been able to plant this year due to lack of rain.
However, fearing that the field will be barren and that the yield will be reduced if planted late, some farmers have planted by pulling water from the motor. Using diesel to draw water from a motor is very expensive for farmers. Local farmers Bhaviswar Khatri, Lakshmi Thapa, Yadav Pandey, Rajan Kunwar and Purna Shrestha planted paddy by drawing water from the motor. In Chaldiphant, 300 seedlings of 60 farmers are planted in the field.
Information officer of Krishi Gyan Kendra Shiv Prasad Banjade said that chaite paddy is 319 hectares and spring paddy is planted in 7 thousand 120 plants area in Gulmi. Ramdhan, Khumal, Hansraj, Makwanpur, Jadan and Lame varieties of rice are planted in this area.
