Butwal-Narayangadh road extension deadline has been extended by one year for the fourth time. The deadline for the eastern section has been extended to July 7, 2083 and the deadline for the western section has been extended to July 5, 2083.
Narayangadh-Butwal road section from Daunne to East Gaindakot area is called East section and road area from Daunne to West Butwal is called West section .
The deadline has been extended due to the fact that the Chinese contractor company, which started the work in March 2075, could not work within the specified time . The Chinese contractor should have completed the highway expansion within the first three years. Even after extending the deadline for one year for the first, second and third time, the highway expansion work was not completed, so the fourth time was extended for one year.
The Chinese contractor company China State Engineering Corporation has taken a contract for 17 billion to expand 114 kilometers of highway in both sections. Even if the deadline is extended for the fourth time, the cost of road construction will not increase, said Chudaraj Dhakal, director of the road expansion project. The Chinese contractor company and consultant asked for time up to January 2083 . Dhakal said that the project office has extended the deadline by one year on the condition that the work can be completed by July 2083. Butwal-Narayangadh road expansion continues with the loan support of Asian Development Bank.
The cost from Gandakot to Downe is 9 billion 13 million 18 lakh 95 thousand . The cost from Downe to West Butwal is 7 billion 86 crore 34 lakh . Out of 114 km road, 29 km area will be constructed with four lanes. The 70 km road in the Butwal-Narayangadh area will be constructed with 6 lanes. Road upgrading is being done by making three lanes in about 14 km area of Downe. Downey road will be 13 meters wide . Even when it rains normally, the valleys are suffering from mud and there is no hope of improvement even in the coming Dasain.
2075 Highway expansion work which started on Chait 8 has been completed till last June only 70% has been told by the road department.
