'According to the agreement between IPPAN and the Department of Water and Meteorology to exchange flood warnings, the department has been continuously sharing information with IPPAN for preparedness in this regard,' the statement issued by IPPAN says, 'The Department has predicted heavy rain in eastern Nepal from the evening of July 3 to the morning of July 4.'
According to the department, there is a high possibility of flooding in Koshi, Tamor, Arun, Tamakoshi, Dudhkoshi, Kankai and other rivers in eastern Nepal. The Koshi River may reach a level close to or crossing the alert level. The weather system active from eastern Nepal will move towards western Nepal. According to the statement, the Bagmati river flooded in the evening of July 4th, Kathmandu Valley and lower coastal areas will be affected and there is a high possibility of flooding in the Mahakali river and its coastal areas by the afternoon of July 5th.
"This weather system will affect the districts of Baglung, Myagdi, Parbat, Syangja, Palpa, Nawalparasi, Rupandehi and others in central Nepal, which will affect the Narayani watershed from the middle hills to the lower coast", the statement said.
