While some sectors of the economy are slow, in the financial year 2081/82, a historical record has been established in the secondary market trading of securities. There has been a significant improvement in other indices of the market in that financial year.
According to the details of Nepal Stock Exchange, in the year 2080/81, there was a turnover of Rs. The transaction amount is 189.23 percent more than in the year 2080/81. Earlier in the year 2077/78, the highest amount (i.e. Rs. 14 trillion 54 billion 44 crore) was transacted.
Similarly, the market capitalization of Rs 35 trillion 53 billion 67 crore at the end of June 2081 increased by 31.05 percent to Rs 46 trillion 56 billion 98 crore at the end of June 2082. By the end of the financial year 2081/82, the number of listed companies has reached 272. In that year, three companies were delisted due to mergers and acquisitions.
Similarly, four companies have been added through the first public issue. A total of 8042 million 85000 shares of securities have been listed through the first issue of 36.5 million shares, 1120 thousand shares through additional issue, 433258 shares added by the government and distributed to local people, 378 million 81 million units of collective investment fund and 83 million institutional bonds.
