”Two hundred and sixty megawatts of electricity disconnected from the national transmission system”

Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka has said that due to the recent floods in Rasuwa, about 260 megawatts of electricity has been disconnected from the national transmission system.

In today's meeting of the National Assembly, Minister Khadka presented a proposal that 'Water Resources Bill, 2081 received with a message from the House of Representatives should be considered'. The Assembly unanimously approved the proposal.

Before presenting the proposal, Minister Khadka informed that about 260 megawatts of electricity was disconnected from the national transmission system due to the damage to the important hydropower projects and transmission structures operating in the Trishuli river corridor due to the floods in Rasuwa on Tuesday. According to him, Rasuwagadhi hydropower project with 111 MW capacity, Chilime hydropower project with 22 MW capacity, Trishuli hydropower project with 21 MW capacity and  Devighat project of 14 megawatt capacity is blocked due to flood.

Minister Khadka said that the main cause of the flood was the flow from the explosion of Himtal located in the upper catchment area without rain. "Through the Sentinel Asia plate, it has been confirmed that a super glacier in the Lende River in the Rasuwa-Tibet area has reduced from zero.75 square kilometers to zero.60 square kilometers before the incident in the Himalayan area," Minister Khadka said.
