Today is the last day to clear the budget for the current year

All government accounts will be suspended for one week from 12 pm tonight. According to Rule 30 of the Financial Procedures and Financial Responsibility Regulations, 2077, accounts operated by the Comptroller General's Office (Malenica), Provincial Accounts Comptroller's Office (Pralenica) and the Treasury and Accounts Controller's Office (Colenica) of all districts will be closed, Malenica spokesperson Sushila Aryal informed.

According to him, today is the last day to release the budget amount of the liability created for the current financial year 2081/82. From tonight, the Local Accumulated Fund Management System (SUTRA), Single Account Fund System (TSA) and Computerized Government Accounting System (CIGAS) will be closed for a week.

In the previous year, Malenica issued circulars to all Pralenicas and Kolenicas in the last week of June to stop the budget release.

'It is mentioned in the law that the government account should be stopped one week before the end of the financial year. From tonight, no expenses will be paid except for essential purposes. As this is a matter laid down in the law, no circular has been issued to Pralenica and Kolenica for account suspension,' he said.

Rule 30 of the Financial Procedures and Financial Responsibility Regulations stipulates that payment withdrawals must be stopped one week before the end of the financial year. No other amount can be paid except for the title specified by the Appropriation Act as not to be 'frozen'. Spokesperson Aryal informed that there is an arrangement in the regulations that payments for essential purposes can only be made with Malenika's consent.

Government expenditure is around 79 percent till Tuesday, the day before the last day of budget payment for the current year. According to the Comptroller General's Office, 84% of the budget has been spent on current titles, 53% on capital and 86% on financial arrangements.
