The construction of 'invert' in the Siddhababa tunnel, which is a project of national pride, has been completed. Engineer Savita Gyawali of the Tunnel Project Office informed that the construction work of the invert has been completed for a total of 1,089 meters of the main tunnel.
She said, 'Invert construction work has been completed since Wednesday. We are advancing the work of 'lining' rapidly. So far, 834 meters of lining work has been completed.
Under the Siddharth highway, the overall physical progress of the tunnel under construction in Palpa's Tinau Rural Municipality-3, Dobhan area has reached 56.3 percent. Similarly, the financial progress of the project is 50.24 percent. After the 'break through' of the tunnel, the work has picked up speed.
Under the Siddhartha Highway, the construction of a 1,26-meter tunnel from the upper Siddhababa temple on the Butwal-Tansen road section has started since 2079. Under the project, the main tunnel has been 'break through'. The tunnel was started in five years i.e. in 2083 by China State Construction Engineering Corporation at a cost of Rs.
Siddhartha Highway from the lower Siddhababa Mandir to Dobhan in Palpa is an area prone to landslides. A tunnel has been constructed to make this section of the highway safe as landslides occur even in the dry season. Through this section, transport facilities are operated to Gulmi, Palpa, Arghakhanchi, Syangja, Pokhara, Baglung and Myagdi.
The government has allocated Rs 2.6 billion for the coming financial year for Siddhababa Tunnel and Nagadhunga Tunnel, which are under construction 1,126 meters long from Palpa-Siddhababa temple.
